Answer:

The Deal- The Devil will give Tom the buried treasure, in return that one day he can claim Tom's soul.

The regret- He ends up going to church and becoming OBSESSED with the Bible and Church and Christianity, in hopes it will help, but sadly in the end, his deal was made and he did not escape the fate
