Upward is when someone in a lower level takes feedbacks or projects to managers (club member proposes a new activity at a meeting). Downward is when the manager takes projects and changes to the employees (secretary of the club reads meeting minutes to entire club). Lateral or horizontal is when people from the same departament share their ideias and projects (officers present reports to each other). Grapevine is an informal flow of information, such as an invitation being shared around the club.
