Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe (Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe) originally titled Le Bain (Le Bain) is a painting on canvas by Edouard Manet produced in 1862 and 1863. This painting depicts a naked and bather woman in a minimalist outfit. during a picnic with two fully clothed men in a rural area. Rejected by the Salon jury in 1863, Manet took the opportunity to exhibit this painting and two others at Salon des Refusés 1863, where the painting aroused public fame and controversy.
