Iranian Hostage Crisis--after the US refused to hand over the Shah, the Iranians stormed the US embassy in Tehran and held the people there hostage for 444 days.
The Shah of Iran fled during the Iranian Revolution and was held safe in the US. The new government demanded the US hand him over to face trials but the US refused. This caused the Iranian rebels to storm the American Embassy and take 52 diplomats and citizens hostage for 444 days.

Border ruffians contributed to the "bleeding Kansas" problem by actively terrorizing citizens of the free state. The Border ruffians came from the slave state of Missouri and in an attempt to change attitudes through force, they would actively terrorize opponents to their pro-slavery stance. The "bleeding Kansas" problem occurred as is was decided around the time of 1950 that the settlers themselves would choose whether Kansas was a free or slave state. This resulted in a flood of people from both sides rushing to settle Kansas in order to gain another state that aligned with their particular values. The period lasted until about 1959-60 and animosity persisted through the civil war.
Plantation owners turned to the enslaved Africans as a labor force because they were not paying them for their work, instead they were just providing shelter and food for them. Also, they had total control over them because they owned them, thus were able to make them work as much as they wanted and the slaves couldn't do anything about it.
