Recently, I was reading an article about military bases overseas and proposed cuts in funds that keep them secure. With the coun

try experiencing so many financial difficulties and so much money being spent on the war in Iraq, proposals are being made to cut funding that secures American overseas military bases not in the Middle East. This concerns many people, who fear that diverting funds used to secure those bases might result in another Pearl Harbor. Though these decisions are not final, military personnel and their families are asking the government to reconsider any cuts it is planning on making. What is the historical allusion?

The following question is based on your reading of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. PUCK Fairy king, attend, an
Maslowich

Answer:

The poetic device being used in the excerpt is:

A. rhyme

Explanation:

We can define rhyme as the repetition of ending sounds in words, especially words that are at the end of poetry lines. Let's use the first lines of the excerpt as an example:

Fairy king, attend and mark:

I do hear the morning lark.

The words "mark" and "lark" sound quite similar, right? That is because they have the same final sounds /ark/, the only difference between them being the first consonant sound of each /m/ and /l/. This is an example of rhyme.

The same happens in the other lines, with the pairs "soon" and "moon", "flight" and "night", and "found" and "ground".
