Psychoanalysis is a school of psychology founded by Sigmund Freud in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is a way to resolve conflict in a subject through free association or dreams and failed actions in a person's life.

Psychophysics is a discipline that studies the physical stimuli and the sensations that those stimuli produce. It was started by Weber and Fechner and was primarily been concerned with quantifying sensations. The form used here later found a bedrock for behavioral psychology.
