Which does not describe Benjamin Banneker? A. surveyor of the nation's capital B. first black man to vote in the United States C
Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

B. first black man to vote in the United States

Explanation:

Benjamin Banneker was known as one of the early successful African Americans in the United States due to his exposure, level of education, occupation, and most importantly his non slavery background.

It is true that he was a surveyor of the nation's capital, having worked under Major Andrew Ellicott in a survey that ascertained the actual borders of the DC, the federal capital of the United States.

It is also true that he knows mathematics, astronomy, and authors some books in his lifetime.

It is also true that he was a son of a freed slave. His mom was a free African-American woman while his dad was, a former slave.

What is not true, however, is that he was the first black man to vote in the United States as that honor goes to Thomas Mundy Peterson.

kati45 [8]
The idea of citizenship has changed throughout history because citizenship has been reshaped by immigration and the growth of population. In the past citizenship was determined moreso by the place you were born. For instance people born in Athens, or ancient Rome was considered citizens of that country. Now , especially in modern U.S.A citizenship can be earned and worked for. For instance the immigrants that come from overseas and foreign countries, they can come to America and be a citizen within a few years.

What else was happening in the United States at this time to influence support for the Dawes Act?
olga55 [171]

The Anglo-American hunger for Indian lands was the other event that happened in the United States at this time which influenced the support for the Dawes Act.

What was the Dawes Act?

It was a federal legislation that was passed to turn the Native Americans into farmers and landowners by providing cooperating families with 160 acres of reservation land for farming or 320 acres for grazing.

As it was intended to give the Native American family head 320 acres of grazing land or 160 acres of farmland, it also have some aims that includes:

 • allotment of land
 • vocational training
 • education
 • divine intervention.

The promised acreages were comparable to those promised by the Homestead Act but there were important differences between the two acts.

Here, the Native tribes already controlled the land that was being returned to them at a fraction of the acreage, but they were not accustomed to a life of standardized ranching and agriculture and the lands allotted to them were often unsuitable for farming.
