~Hello There!~

We have the total number of cookies given to us already

Keep this number in mind because it will be the denominator

There are 3 almond cookies therefore the probability the chef takes an almond cookie the first time is \frac{3}{6}

However, since the chef doesn't put the cookie back, there are now 5 cookies in the box. The denominator should now be 5.

Also, assuming the first cookie taken was an almond cookie, there are now only 2 almond cookies.

Therefore, the second probability would be \frac{2}{5}

The AND rule means that we must multiply these together as we want BOTH of these outcomes.

\frac{3}{6} *\frac{2}{5}

The final probability is:

\frac{6}{30}

Hope This Helps You!

Good Luck :)

Have A Great Day ^_^

I think it is 6/30 because if you multiply 3/6 by 2/5 you get 6/30 then you simplify it to 1/5 I think...But I would not take this answer yet....

Running times for 400 meters are Normally distributed for young men between 18 and 30 years of age with a mean of 93 seconds and
Luda [366]

Answer:

C. 45 and 141 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

The Empirical Rule states that, for a normally distributed random variable:

68% of the measures are within 1 standard deviation of the mean.

95% of the measures are within 2 standard deviation of the mean.

99.7% of the measures are within 3 standard deviations of the mean.

In this problem, we have that:

Mean = 93 seconds

Standard deviation = 16 seconds

99.7% of running times are approximately between:

By the Empirical rule, within 3 standard deviations of the mean, so between 3 standard deviations below the mean and 3 standard deviations above the mean

3 stnadard deviations below the mean

93 - 3*16 = 45 seconds

3 standard deviations above the mean

93 + 3*16 = 141 seconds

The correct answer is:

C. 45 and 141 seconds
