How did the United States change between 1776 and 1870?
Rainbow [258]
Population in 1770 = 2,148,100 Population in 1870 = 38,558,371 The most important event was obviously the American Civil War from 1861-1865. This led to the 14th Amendment which defined a citizen as "any person born or naturalized in the US." The 13th Amendment abolished slavery, and the 15th Amendment prohibits denying the right to vote to someone because of their race. Other key events include the Louisiana Purchase, the Texas Revolution, The Spanish-American War, the War of 1812, the purchase of Alaska, the Mexican Cession, the Indian Wars, and the California Gold Rush. Like I said, the right to vote was extended to all male citizens by the 15th Amendment. Women were not given the right to vote until the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920.

The map shows Germany and its surrounding area. Which is the best title for the map? Germany's Location in Europe German Territo
satela [25.4K]

You didn't attach a map, but based on your choices I'm going to guess it's a map like the one I've attached below.

The correct title for such a map would be:

German Territorial Losses after World War I

According to the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, which brought World War I to a close, Germany had to give up large portions of its territory, as shown in the map (attached below). Germany also was forced to give up colonial territories. The League of Nations (formed after World War I) created a system for governing former German and Ottoman territories, called "the mandate system." There were mandate territories for former German territories in Africa and Asia, as well for former Ottoman territories in the Middle East.

So Germany lost territory both in Europe and abroad as a result of World War I.

musickatia [10]

The correct answer is D)The fighting ended in the Pacific.

The phrase "VJ Day" stood for "Victory in Japan Day." This day represented America's victory in the Pacific theater of World War II. Since Japan is the only answer choice above that is actually located in the Pacific Ocean, this can be the only correct answer.
