The 1920´s was a very idyllic time for Western civilization because the advancement in technology, the growth of consumer capacity, the development of new industries, like the film, radio and television industries, among other things, produced enormous changes. Among those changes lay the increase in income for people, although there is evidence that this was not equal for all, being farmers the most affected negatively. Also, women won their right to vote during this time in the U.S. But most iconically of all, was the introduction of the mass-produced car. Finally, it was at this time that really strong anti-immigration movements, like the Ku Klux Klan were born.

1. Why are the twenties sometimes... Its C. The GNP grew enormously and people had the capacity to buy consumer goods, even if they were not necessities. They were even able to afford luxuries, like going to the movies. This did not affect all Americans equally and some grew really indebted to the financial system.

2. Why did the automobile had a major... The automobile had a huge impact on not just America but worldwide, as it allowed people to move in bigger numbers and to greater distances, at a lower cost. When Ford began the process of mass-production, and due to competition from other producers, consumers were benefitted because of the low prices and many grew indebted to acquire them. So, the answer is B: by the end of the decade, automobile ownership had increased dramatically.

3. Because of the perception by most people of the financial boom, the development of new technologies and the increase in GNP, people in the 1920´s saw things with: A: Optimism.

4. The banning on the consumption of alcohol, which was a cause pushed forth by the Women´s Christian Temperance Union, came finally through with the passage of the 18th Ammendment in 1919, which prohibited the manufacturing and sale of intoxicating liquors. Correct response is B.

5. Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover, were three conservative Republican presidents who favored the boom of businesses and sought to favor them and encourage their growth and expansion. Each had to face an era of recovery, and an era of expansion. This is why the correct answer is C: as America´s most important strength.

6. Wodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States had to face one of the toughest times in history, between 1913 and 1921. The end of the World War I, the golden age of the 20´s and the preparation for World War II. In this question, the difference between Wilson and the other presidents was that: C, Wilson emphasized peace and global responsibility.. this given the difficult tension times that arose with the rise of Nazism in Germany.

7. The big Stock Market crash of 1929, also known as Black Tuesday, was the result of a series of financial decision-making failures that brought on a collapse of the world economy. Most importantly, was the wrong handling of the stock market during the 1920´s, especially using credit, which at some point people were unable to pay due to a lack of job opportunities. This is why correct answer is A.

Triss [41]
You didn't attach the map you were shown, but I can tell you what that map would look like.

Israel had gained control of several sections of territory which they had not previously controlled.  In  the south, Israel now held control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula (which had been held by Egypt).  Along the Jordan River, Israel now controlled the region known as the West Bank (which was a region where Palestinians lived).  In the north Israel had taken the Golan Heights away from the control of Syria.

In negotiations after the war, there were thoughts of returning land for peace, but that really only has happened in the case of Israel's relationship with Egypt.  (Israel and Egypt signed a lasting peace agreement in 1979.)

The Counter-Reformation was successful in certain areas. For instance, it was largely able to eliminate the spread of Protestantism in Austria and France. These two areas had large numbers of Protestants during the Reformation, but their numbers had severely dwindled by the end of the Thirty Years' War.
