What are some viewpoints of Frederick Douglass and Captain Canot regarding slavery?

English

First of all Douglass was African-American, and Captain Canot was an Englishman.

Douglass experienced slavery and he didn't.

Also Douglass is speaking from what he experienced, while the Captain is speaking from what he thought happened.

It's funny bc I just had this question.

Locate the gerund. Since it is used as a noun, determine its noun use. A popular pastime is backpacking.
Travka [436]
The gerund in the sentence provided above is backpacking. Gerunds are verbs in -ing form but function as a noun. In this sentence, it functions as a  direct object because it answers the question "what". By this, we can construct the question "What popular pastime is being talked about?".
