1. Cleopatra was well educated.

I find the fact that Cleopatra was an intellectual very interesting because she was an author and wrote a medicinal and pharmacological book called cosmetics.



2. Cleopatra murdered her siblings.

I find that it’s interesting how Cleopatra murdered her siblings because it was common in Egypt and I’m surprised she was not caught.


3. Cleopatra was the last pharaoh of Egypt.

I believe it’s very interesting how Cleopatra was the last pharaoh of Egypt, because Cleopatra’s family ruled Egypt for 300 years.


4. Cleopatra was in a relationship with Julius Caesar.

I think it’s interesting how Cleopatra was able to propel her power is Egypt by being in a relationship with Julius Caesar.


5. Cleopatras death.

I think it’s interesting how Cleopatra was to be executed, but instead she died of snake venom.

The first two paragraphs are a summary of fact. The tone is cool and collective. It puts in simple language that a threat, up until the Cuban Missel  Crisis, was treated with respect and cool heads prevailed.

But once the soviets were seen as instigators of a policy that clearly violated the Monroe and later the Truman doctrines (though this was not stated), the tone changed and Kennedy's anger and steadfast determination to meat the challenge came out. Much is going on in that last stanza. Kennedy is warning the Soviet Union not to go to far. Their action will not be ignored and it will not be let slide under the rug. He will meet force with force if need be.

His tone is still calm, but he is both angry and determined.
