Under the "Continuing Racism" section (paragraphs 11-12), the will of the African-American fighter pilots and bombers to become successful and skillful in their field even when racial discrimination occurred helped them along the way. The group faced several challenges especially that their commanders were also racists and supported segregation.
However, this did not cause them to lose hope. They even worked harder by fighting for their rights in order to receive the same equal treatment with the white pilots and bombers. This section showed their courage such as when they forced their way into the officer's club in Indiana.
