Caving can be a very dangerous and very entertaining adventure for most people. Caving is also know as spelunking in the United States and Canada and potholing in the United Kingdom and Ireland – is the recreational pastime of exploring wild cave systems. In contrast, speleology is the scientific study of caves and the cave environment. The meaning of caving is  To collapse into a hollow area below, as of a physical structure or formation. Also to submit, concede, or yield (to someone or something); to surrender or acknowledge defeat. Under the threat of a strike, the management caved in and agreed to reinstate annual pay increases for all employees. Caving is often undertaken for the enjoyment of the outdoor activity or for physical exercise, as well as original exploration, similar to mountaineering or diving. Physical or biological science is also an important goal for some cavers, while others are engaged in cave photography. Caving can be dangerous: you run the risk of hypothermia, rockfall, drowning, exhaustion, and bad air. But with the proper preparation and gear, you can greatly offset the risk. Statistically, high-risk cavers run a 1 in 3,332 chance of dying. Roughly 1 in 624 cavers get seriously injured. If you get lost in a cave, Generally, the best piece of advice is: don't get lost in a cave. Have a minimum of 3 independent light sources (2 candles, one lighter isn't independent) . Carry a map.  Make sure people know where you're going and where in the cave you expect to go.  Bring extra food and water.
