Scenario 13.1. Redbox places its vending machines in easy-to-reach areas around pharmacies, grocery stores, discount stores, and

more. Most customers of Redbox purchase video and game rentals around dinnertime, so the fact that many of the machines are located close to grocery stores is a strategic move that benefits both Redbox and the store. Redbox manages its selection by keeping track of what movies are being ordered frequently at that location. The individual kiosks inform the company about past purchases, and the company can adjust the availability of DVDs or Blu-rays based on this information. Customers can also reserve movies online. Redbox attempted to engage in digital distribution to compete with Netflix, but the initiative failed. Redbox, however, is not giving up as it recognizes that digital streaming is the future. Refer to Scenario 13.1. Consider that Redbox locates its kiosks close to shopping centers where customers can pick up a DVD while out shopping for food or other supplies. Based upon this, what type of utility do Redbox's kiosks offer to consumers?

Answer:

The Redbox kiosks that are located near shopping centers and grocery stores offer customers both convenience and experiences (nostalgia).

Explanation:

It offers convenience because customers can easily access the DVDs and Blu-rays after shopping, so they end up leaving the shopping center with different kinds of products, for example, the groceries for the week and a couple of DVDs.

But it offers experiences (nostalgia), because while Netflix and other streaming services are even more convenient than a Redbox kiosks in front of a Wall-Mart, many people miss the whole experience of going out to rent movies, and a new trend is slowly developing of bringing back this type of activity.

Two components of your environment that can affect your wellness are peer influence and role models. True or False
yuradex [85]

Answer:

That statement is true

Explanation:

Components of environment could include any objects, subjects, or situation that we face every day.

Peer influence can influence our wellness by making us more prone to a certain behavior that accepted by our peers. (for example, if we involves ourselves with peers who constantly smoke, it would most likely affect our wellness because we become more likely to do it)

Role models could influence us in similar ways, but we do it because we admire our individuals and develop a feeling that we want to be like that individual.

Why do we have such a high crime/violence rate in the U.S.?

Sociology Social Problems Course
alexira [117]

Answer: the crime rate isn't as high as it seems to be. The crime rate is high in the cities, but low in the rural and suburban areas.

Most cities are extremely liberal, making it practically impossible for good citizens to own a gun for self defense. For this reason, urban criminals know that their intended victims are helpless, and they can commit violent crimes with impunity. (Suburban and rural criminals are strongly deterred from their potential crimes by the presence of armed citizens.)

Explanation: Cities are also home to vast numbers of government dependents, broken homes, and fatherless children. Fatherless children with unstable home environments have a much higher likelihood of turning to crime, joining gangs, etc. American cities skew the statistics for the country as a whole — but if you take the cities OUT of the statistics, then America is one of the safest places in the world.
