Carbon is the element that is responsible for the huge diversity of organic molecules, which are the compounds in the living organisms.

The diversity of organic molecules' structures is really huge and it includes alkanes, alkenes, alkines, linear molecules, cyclic molecules, and molecules with special functional groups.

Alkanes are molecules with only single bonds between any carbons.

Alkenes have one ore more double bonds between some carbons.

Alkines have one or more triple bonds bwtween some carbons.

Cyclic molecules form close rig structures.

Molecules with functional groups include: carbon halides, alcohols, eters, amines, aldehides, ketones, carboxilic acids, esters and amides.

The huge diversity of compounds that can be made up with carbon is due to its ability to form four bonds, which permit to form chains.

Anay of those bonds cand be joined to many different elements, H, halogens, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, and other C, which in turn can bond to the same range of elements, and so form an infinite range of compounds.

What is the method of determining distance and elevation using instruments and geometry? triangulation surveying mapping digitiz
Artyom0805 [142]

Answer:

B. surveying

Surveying is the method of determining the distance and elevation using instruments and geometry.

Explanation:

Surveying is methodology used to determine the area of the land in real estate sector and infrastructure projects. It is the coalescence of mathematical calculation and scientific concepts. It not only measure the area size, which is also used to measure the elevation like height of Himalayan mountain, dam strength and so on. Survey of India is established in 1767, it is the oldest department in India in engineering field.

The half-lives for the radioactive decay of various elements are listed in the table below.
lbvjy [14]

Answer:

See solution and explanation below

Explanation:

a) From;

N/No = (1/2)^t/t1/2

1/8 = (1/2)^t/1.25 * 10^9

(1/2)^3 = (1/2)^t/1.25 * 10^9

3 = t/1.25 * 10^9

t = 3 * 1.25 * 10^9

t = 3.75 * 10^9 years

b)

N/No = (1/2)^40,110/5,730

N/No = (1/2)^7

N/No = 1/128

percentage remaining after 40,110 years = 1/128 * 100 = 0.78%

c) N/200 * 10^-9 = (1/2)^4.26 * 10^9/0.710 * 10^9

N/200 * 10^-9 = (1/2)^6

N/200 * 10^-9 = 1/64

64 N = 200 * 10^-9

N= 3.125 * 10^-9 g

d) Radiocarbon dating can not be used to determine the age of the solar system since the solar system is as old as the universe and was formed billions of years ago. Radiocarbon dating can only be accurately used to obtain the age of objects of plant or animal origin between 1000 - 10000 years old.

1. What layers of Earth make up the lithosphere?
Jobisdone [24]
Answer 1: The correct answer is the crust and the upper mantle.

The lithosphere refers to a solid, rocky part of the Earth, that is the Earth's outermost layer. It is comprised of the crust and upper mantle (refer to attached image). The lithosphere is around 100 km deep.

Answer 2: The correct answer is its crust.

The Earth's crust refers to the outermost rocky shell of the Earth where organisms live (refer to second image). The crust is made of solid rocks, including igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. The Earth's crust is around 30 km deep.

Answer 3: The correct answer is iron and nickel.

The Earth's core refers to the innermost or central part of the Earth. It lies around 2900 km beneath the Earth's surface and is spherical in shape. The Earth's core is comprised of an alloy (mixture) of the metals iron and zinc.It is made of two layers: the outer core and the inner core.
