Silent Spring is an environmental science book published on September 27, 1962, by Rachel Carson. It describes the unfavorable environmental impacts generated by the indiscriminate use of pesticides. Carson blamed the chemical industry for spreading false information. Public officials were accused as well for accepting the industry's marketing claims without any further investigation.
