It means that no matter how bad things can be in life, always strive to do good.  If you try to be a good person and do what you can for others you will be remembered for it.  Being remembered as one who was such a positive person is a wonderful way of being thought of.

In Ernest Hemingway’s “In Another Country,” why does the major most likely stay away from the hospital for three days?
Mkey [24]

In Ernest Hemingway’s “In Another Country,” the major most likely stays away from the hospital for three days to mourn the death of his wife.

The major was very scornful towards doctors due to the fact that his injuries were not cured by them and he is skeptical about the fact that machines will succeed in curing the three soldiers who Nick befriended.

The short story “In Another Country,” is about an ambulance corps member in Milan during World War I.

nadya68 [22]

Answer: I would contend that the right answer is the E) "... since they provide fascinating evidence about the creative processes in which this great Modernist engaged."

Explanation: Just to elaborate a little bit on the answer, it can be added that the other options feature sentences that end with a preposition ("engaged in"), and although this is permissible in the English language, it is not the most formal option. In the example, a good way to correct it is to replace it by "in which." I would suggest changing the sentence so it reads "Although the author himself declared them unpublishable, the first appearance in print of 40 poems by T.S. Eliot is a significant event, since they provide fascinating evidence about the creative processes in which this great Modernist engaged."

Please can you teach me to improve in finding literary devices/poetic devices in a poem
OlgaM077 [116]
The basic literary devices for short stories, biographies etc... are Tone is the authors voice or style in a writing ;could be comical, compassionate;you can find this by noticing the setting, the time period, the characters and the narrators Point of View on the story. Theme is what the author is trying to say,why he wrote the story, the underlying meaning or lesson. Plot is simply the sequence of related events in the story. Conflict is the struggle or opposing force between the main character and something or someone else. Setting is the time and place the story takes place. Juxtaposition is a unique slang or way of speaking among a certain group; a dialect even. Imagery is using descriptive language to make the readers form a clear image or colorful image like they are there in the story watching in real life
