DNA, which is a sequence of nucleotides, make up genes. Genes are DNA sequences that code of a functional protein and are controlled by a promoter region on the DNA. DNA, including genes within it, are supercoiled into chromosomes so they are able to fit in the cell. Otherwise, uncoiled DNA in a cell is much longer than the cell itself.

PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

C. Darwin's explanation of natural selection

Explanation:

According to Darwin, natural selection selects for traits that are more adaptable to an environment and individuals with such traits tend to reproduce and contribute more offspring to successive generations.

As the environment keeps changing, organisms keep trying to adapt to the changes. Those who are able to adapt flourish more within the environment while the weak ones gradually get replaced in the population.

In the case of sickle cell heterozygosity and malaria; individuals that are heterozygous for the sickle cell trait are generally known to be less prone to malaria. Hence, this becomes a selection advantage over individuals with other genotype forms. Heterozygous individuals thus contribute more offspring into the population than other genotype forms according to natural selection law.

The correct answer is C.

How does glucose and amino acids get to the cell
Free_Kalibri [48]

Answer:

These cells use active-transport systems in the apical domains of their plasma membranes to take up dietary sugars and amino acids from the lumen of the intestine. The uptake of glucose, for example, is carried out by a transporter that coordinately transports two Na+ and one glucose into the cell
