It should be C. I think the inverse is the completely mirrored/flipped one and if you took the coordinates of the original and C a d plotted them on a graph you'd get a mirror image, right? Don't hurt me if I'm wrong please

Suppose f(x)= 2 ^ x - 3x and g(x = 1 - 2x. Find each of the following functions. a. (f + g)(x) b. (f- g)(x)
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

(f+g)(x)=2^x-5x+1 and

(f-g)(x)=2^x-x-1

Step-by-step explanation:

(f+g)(x)=2^x-3x+1-2x

=2^x-5x+1

(f-g)(x)=2^x-3x-1+2x2x

=2^x-x-1

What is the value for f(x)4^2x -100 when x=2 ?<br><br> (the ^2x is a exponent)
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

156

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x)= 4^(2x) -100

Let x =2

f(2)= 4^(2*2) -100

   = 4^4 - 100

   = 256 -100

   = 156

Use synthetic division to show that the number given to the right of the equation is a solution of the equation. Then solve the
AysviL [449]

Answer:

x = 2 \: or \: x =  - 2 \: or \: x =  -  \frac{1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The given polynomial equation is

2 {x}^{3}  +  {x}^{2}  - 8x - 4 = 0

We perform the synthetic division as shown in the attachment by dividing by x-2.

This gives a remainder of 0 and a quotient of

2 {x}^{2}  + 5x + 2

This means the polynomial equation becomes:

(x - 2)(2 {x}^{2}  + 5x + 2) = 0

We factor the quadratic term by splitting the middle term;

(x - 2)(2 {x}^{2}  + 4x +x +  2) = 0

(x - 2)(2 x(x+ 2) +1(x +  2) )= 0

Collect common factors again:

(x - 2)((x+ 2)(2x +  1) = 0

The solution is:

x = 2 \: or \: x =  - 2 \: or \: x =  -  \frac{1}{2}

A ball is thrown downward from a cliff. Its position at time t seconds is given by the formula s(t) = 16t2 + 32t, where s is in
Rom4ik [11]

Answer:

It takes 2.8 seconds for the ball to fall 215 ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a position function s(t) where s stands for the number of feet the ball has fallen, so we have to replace s with the given value of 215 ft and solve for the time t.

Setting up the equation.

The motion equation is given by

s(t) =16t^2+32t

We can replace there s = 215 ft to get

215=16t^2+32t

Solving for the time t.

From the previous equation we can move all terms in one side to get

16t^2+32t-215=0

At this point we can solve for t using quadratic formula.

t = \cfrac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

where a, b and c are the coefficients of the quadratic equation

at^2+bt+c=0

So we get

a=16\\b=32\\c=-215

Replacing on the quadratic formula we get

t = \cfrac{-32\pm \sqrt{32^2-4(16)(-215)}}{2(16)}

Using a calculator we get

t=-4.8 , t = 2.8

Physically speaking the only result that makes sense is to move forward in time that give us t = 2.8 seconds.

We can conclude that it takes 2.8 seconds for the ball to fall 215 ft.
