Answer:

Checks and Balances ensure that the American Government does not give total power to one branch. Coined by Montesque, an elightenment thinker during the American Revolution, checks and balances means that each branch is given a specific power over another (checks) and another branch has a specific power over it (balances).

The legislative branch has a check over the executive and judicial branch because the White House or Supreme Court can not propose laws. However, the executive branch has a balance over the legislative because the president can veto any law. The judicial branch also has a balance over the legislative because the Supreme Court can rule any law unconstitutional.

alex41 [277]

Answer:

In a two-party system, a voter who supports the view of one party on one topic, but supports the view of the other party on another topic, is forced to compromise one of their views. A multi-party system, on the other hand, allows each citizen to vote for the party that best fits their complex beliefs.

BaLLatris [955]

Frederick Lugard justifies Britain's actions of imperialism by saying that Britain will be honoured for its efforts to improve foreign societies.

In "The Dual Mandate in British Tropical Africa", Lugard argues that Britain needed to provide for their growing population by opening new markets, opportunity for emigration, employment and taking raw materials that were not being used in Africa. In exchange, they would bring the benefits of western political organization, commerce and infrastructures.
