There are many reasons to study US history, which include the ideas that history helps us understand change and how the society we live in came to be. The second reason history is inescapable as a subject of serious study follows closely on the first. The past causes the present, and so the future.

It is common for history to repeat itself. If we dont learn from our mistakes as a whole society we are doomed to fail again.
