1. Read this passage from "Mending Wall," and think about who is 'speaking" in the poem.
Alla [95]

After analyzing the speaker in the passage from "Mending Wall," we can say the following about what is revealed:

D. He isn't taking the task seriously.

<h3>The speaker in "Mending Wall"</h3>

"Mending Wall" is a poem by Robert Frost in which the speaker and his neighbor fix a stone wall that separates their properties. The neighbor thinks the wall is important, but the speaker thinks it is utterly unnecessary.

The speaker is clearly not taking the task seriously. He describes the repair of the wall as an "outdoor game," as if he and the neighbor were just children having fun. He even goes as far as talking of using "a spell to make [the stones] balance."

Taking the information above into consideration, we can select letter D as the correct option.

He (adumbrated) the situation for the men who were dealing with the (conflagration). Give the definitions of the (bracketed word
juin [17]
Described roughly/uncontrollable fire

Adumbrate is an academic word that is used to foreshadow something to occur, or as it is used in the sentence here, meant to give a vague description or outline of something. The usage of this word is extremely low according to normal corpus linguistic standards. The root of the word is "umbra" and from the Latin, shadow. And as such is the other more frequently used intention of the word - to foreshadow. In this context of foreshadowing, it is meant to tell what is likely to occur in a novel or story line.

Conflagration on the other hand is a powerful fire. It is meant to be used to describe a fire which is incredibly destructive and intense. A good synonym would be "inferno", as this also includes connotations with hell and/or the devil. A conflagration would be a spectacle to watch and in extremely dangerous to be in or around.
