As de-extinction is no longer a fantasy of science is it really such a good idea?reaction paper
ivanzaharov [21]

In general, de-extinction is not really a good idea.

Explanation:

De-extinction is a process through which organisms that lived in the past, but now are extinct, are resurrected, thus brought back into the environment. While this has only been a fantasy in the past, with the development of the technology it has actually become a real possibility. The opinions are divided about the de-extinction though, with lot of scientists and people supporting it, but as many also objecting it. The fact is that it is an unfamiliar zone, and it will be a big experiment if wild organisms are revived and set free, and it can go either way.

  • The re-creation of an extinct species at letting it into the wild can bring many risks, be it direct danger, harming the environment, or it will just simply not be able to survive as the ecosystem is not the same as in the time when it lived.
  • There can be big consequences by disturbing the natural food chains, thus causing some existing species to go extinct at the expense of the re-created species.
  • Another major problem is that there is no guarantee about the behavior of the re-created species, as they can indeed behave as they are supposed to, but they can also have much more different behavior.
