Select the verb or verbs in the following sentence. Include auxiliary verbs.

Answer: And God said, “Let there be light.”

Explanation:

In the given sentence, we have three verbs, including the auxiliary verb.

Our first verb is said, the past simple tense of the verb to say. Here it refers to the action performed by the subject - God.

The second verb is the auxiliary verb let, here used to form the third person imperative. To show that this indeed is the imperative mood, we could rephrase the sentence like this: I command that there should be light.

The third verb is be, also a part of the imperative mood in this sentence, referring to what light should do.
