The finishing point constructed by Twain is: when the old man is about to finish the story of Jim Smiley's jumping frog, another individual interrupts him. The narrator tries to leave the place, but the old man reaches it. The story ends with the old man who starts telling the narrator about a yellow cow with only one eye of Jim Smiley.
Huck finds a rattle snake and kills it. He thinks it will be funny to curl it up and place it on Jim's blanket.

The joke backfires because the rattlesnake's mate gets in Jim's blanket and bites Jim. He gets bit on the heel.
Adverb describe (modify) verbs and other adverbs. When looking for an adverb, you must first find the verb. In the first sentence, the verb is took. Off is also an adverb, but ask yourself, took off "how"? If you can answer that (with quickly and cautiously), that is your adverbial phrase. From an overnight rain, over the surface, and around the track are all prepositional phrases. Warm and shining are describing the sun, so they are adjectives.
