y=254-40x

Flip the equation

-40x+254=y

Add -254 to both sides

-40x+254+-254=y+-254

-40x=y-254

Divide both sides by -40

-40x/40=y-254/-40

x= -1/40 y + 127/20

I hope that's help !

HELP ME DO THIS PLZ
cestrela7 [59]

Answer:

It landed at a height of 14 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

y = -\frac{1}{8}x^2 +4x --- Path of a t-shirt

3y = 2x - 14 --- height of bleachers

Required

Height when t-shirts land in bleachers

3y = 2x - 14

Make y the subject

y = \frac{2}{3}x - \frac{14}{3}

Substitute y = \frac{2}{3}x - \frac{14}{3} in  y = -\frac{1}{8}x^2 +4x

\frac{2}{3}x - \frac{14}{3} =  -\frac{1}{8}x^2 +4x

Multiply through by 24

16x- 112 = -3x^2 +96x

Express as:

3x^2 + 16x  -96x- 112 = 0

3x^2 -80x- 112 = 0

Using a calculator:

x = 28 or x = -\frac{4}{3}

x can not be negative:

So:

x = 28

Substitute x = 28 in y = -\frac{1}{8}x^2 +4x to calculate the height it landed

y = -\frac{1}{8} * 28^2 + 4 * 28

y = 14

Please help me make a word problem for water bottles. (See picture below)
Alona [7]
1. "Kevin has a 15% off coupon for buying water bottles at Walmart.

One water bottle is usually $2.00. How much did Kevin pay with his coupon?"

2. $1.70.

3. The answer is $1.70, because $2.00 * 0.15 = 30 cents, which is how much the coupon is worth. The sale price is the original amount minus the coupon's monetary value (which is $2.00 - $0.30 = $1.70).

4. I'll leave that part to you lol

Triangle HIJ is dilated by a scale factor of 55 to form triangle H'I'J'. Side I'J' measures 7575. What is the measure of side IJ
kvasek [131]

Answer:

If triangle HIJ is dilated about the center of the triangle to create triangle H'I'J', dilated line A'B' will be parallel to AB.Option (D) is correct.

Given:

The options are as follows,

(A). be perpendicular to AB.

(B). lie on the same line as AB.

(C). shift four units to the left.

(D). be parallel to AB.

Step-by-step explanation:

If we dilate triangle HIJ then the dilated triangle  is bigger than the triangle HIJ.

The triangle HIJ is similar to triangle  to each other.

So the line  is parallel to side AB.
