President Kennedy tried to keep communism out of Vietnam by "(C) providing the southern Vietnamese government with American <span>military advisers," since Kennedy felt that this was a way to "contain" communism without committing many US troops on the ground. </span>
The Harding administration responded to growing public fears of communists and anarchists by empowering the Justice Department to take broad measures to arrest and deport radicals.
They attack foreigners and burned down missionaries. With the support of the Empress Dowager, they
stormed the foreign legations for 55 days.
The foreigners did their best to defend themselves against the
boxers. An international army composed
of British, American, Russian, Japanese, French, German, Italian and other
foreign forces liberated the legation and drove the boxers out. The boxers were later executed for their
acts.
