Prepare for an essay about whether punishing various forms of free speech is ultimately negative or positive. You must develop a claim and conduct research to find sources that support the claim. You must also create an outline that will guide the drafting of your essay.

A claim that expresses your opinion about the topic

A research question that guides your search for sources

Evidence from sources that you find through research

An outline that organizes your claim, supporting reasons, and evidence

My opinion in punishing any form of free speech is something negative because it mutilates people's opinion and a country that does not know the needs of their people will not be a country capable of fulfilling those needs. Evidence of this is the situation in North Korea. International organizations that fight for human rights have repeatedly denounced the lack of freedom of expression in the Asian country.

In particular, North Koreans and tourists visiting the country are prohibited from criticizing or insulting former leaders, Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung, as well as Kim Jong-un, or the state's political system. For example, foreigners, as well as North Korean citizens, should bow and deposit flowers in front of the monuments of the deceased leaders to pay tribute to them.

As a consequence of it, something visible, is the relationship that North Korea keeps with the rest of the world: Tourism in North Korea is organized by the state agency "Korea International Travel Company" and it is highly controlled by the North Korean government. Due to the traditional isolation of the country, it is not a widely visited international destination and only about 1,500 Western visitors usually visit it per year. Being isolated in times of globalization is a negative aspect for healthy and diverse human development, which is why punishing freedom of speech is something negative.

PUNISHING VARIOUS FORMS OF FREE SPEECH IS NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE

Explanation:

Freedom of speech is the right to express one's opinions without being penalized.

Various forms of free speech is Negative

1. Topic sentence: -Freedom of a speech is a gift, it’s a way for people to express how they truly feel, yet people use that gift to spread hate, rumors, and lies. -

Claim: -Freedom of speech shouldn’t be modified. The people need to learn right from wrong, not to leave hate comments on social media, and to bring each other up not tear an individual apart.

2.Freedom of speech clearly prohibits government from punishing individuals for their religious beliefs which are privately and public held.

3.Freedom of speech should also protect the right of individuals to criticize government policy and leaders. In every person, ethnic and interest group is out to promote its own self interest then there is no hope for the protection of the freedom of expression.
