Hey there!

Again, I'm not ENTIRELY sure about this one, but I think the symbolism is "a wind blew out of a cloud, chilling my beautiful Annabel Lee". I think this is symbolism because it says in the beginning "and that was the reason..." which means that the angels got jealous of the love they had for each other and killed Annabel Lee. SO, you could put, <u><em>"The symbolism is "a wind blew out of a cloud, chilling my beautiful Annabel Lee" because it represents the fact that the angels killed Annabel Lee out of jealousy, according to Edgar Allan Poe."</em></u>

How does the author of John White and Roanoke develop the idea that establishing a colony at Roanoke was going to be difficult?
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]
In the passages, the author gives a few details that develop the idea that establishing a colony at Roanoke was going to be difficult because of the Native Americans. The author says, "not all relations between the colonists and the Native Americans were friendly." He expands on this when he states, "some Native Americans were still angry about the colonists' presence and threatened to do battle." The Native Americans who did not want the English colony at Roanoke made it difficult to establish a colony.

Hope is the thing with feathers How so the descriptions of nature contribute to the meaning of the poem? Is the comparison of ho
sattari [20]

In this poetry, the abstract concept of "hope," which can also signify "desire" or "trust," is symbolically compared to a "bird," a real, living thing. The meaning of the term "bird" is broad. Birds are frequently perceived as being independent and free, or as spiritual symbols.

How is hope compared to a bird ?

American poet Emily Dickinson wrote the famous poem "Hope is the thing with feathers" sometime about 1861. In the poem, "Hope" is metaphorically transformed into a resilient bird that lives inside the human spirit and sings its song in the face of adversity. In essence, the poem wants to remind readers of the power of optimism and how little it asks of them. The speaker said that hope has never asked for anything in return and has always been a consolation in hard times. One of several poems by Emily Dickinson that rework an abstract concept using fresh imagery and figurative language is "Hope is the Thing with Feathers."
