Answer:

The light from Alpha Centauri system takes 4.37 light-years and Sirius star system takes 8.6 light-years to reach the Earth.

Explanation:

Light from millions of stars in more distant galaxies takes a long time to reach the Earth. Light travels at a speed of 300,000 kilometers per second. The time taken for light from these stars to reach the Earth is the distance to the star divided by the speed of the light. The distance traveled by light in one year is known as a light year and the distance to the stars that are farther away is expressed in light years.

The Sun is the closest star to the Earth and the sunlight takes about 8.3 minutes to reach on Earth. Apart from the Sun, the other stars closest to Sun include Alpha Centauri system and the Sirius star systems.

The Alpha Centauri system includes the stars Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B and Proxima Centauri. This system is 4.37 light-years away from the Earth. The third star, Proxima Centauri is 4.24 light-years away from the Earth i.e., the light from it takes 4.24 years to reach the Earth.

The Sirius star systems include Sirius A (Dog Star) and Sirius B. It is about 8.6 light years from Earth and so the light about 8.6 years to reach the Earth.

The frontal lobes also include the primary ____________ which controls voluntary motor functions.
lakkis [162]

Answer:

The correct answer will be- primary motor cortex

Explanation:

The motor cortex is the portion of the brain present in the precentral gyrus of the frontal lobe of the brain. The motor cortex is thought to be involved in the planning actions and control voluntary actions.

The motor cortex is divided into three regions: premotor cortex, primary motor cortex and supplementary motor area.

The primary motor cortex is the region of the motor cortex which controls the voluntary movements in the human body by generating the impulse.

Thus, the primary motor cortex is the correct answer.

Characterization and determination of the S/G ratio via Py-GC/MS of agricultural and industrial residues
Oksanka [162]

Characterization and determination of the S/G ratio via Py-GC/MS of agricultural and industrial residues.

What is the abstract?

To investigate the potential lignin values, agricultural residues (apple tree pruning, olive tree pruning, and almond shell) and industrial residues (kraft black liquor) were employed as source materials for lignin extraction via various fractionation procedures (kraft, organosolv, acetosolv and acetosolv and formosolv processes). Py-GC/MS, FTIR, and GPC were used to characterise the separated lignins. The fractionation method had a significant impact on the average molecular weight (Mw) assessed by GPC. The severe circumstances of the acetosolv and acetosolv-formosolv procedures favoured repolymerization, resulting in high Mw lignins. Because of the longer retention durations, the EKL had a smaller Mw. Except for almond shell lignin, which has the highest relative abundance of G-type phenols, all lignins have higher relative abundances of S-type phenols.
