Frederick Douglass was an American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. He wrote sort of an autobiography where he explained  how life was as a slave, and all the struggles slaves had to undergo. He mentioned specifically when he lived in plantation how slaves were forced to work without basic requirements, explained the lack of shoes and pants.
