The ring of fire is a major earthquake and volcano zone that extends nearly all the way around the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Central American volcanoes are apart of this region. Central American volcanoes are formed by the      subduction of the Cocos plate under the Caribbean plate. The Ring of Fire accounts for 90% of the world's earthquake activity.
