I'm not sure if you're looking for a specific answer, but in my perspective...

They are similar in that they introduce a particular topic. Usually both establish the "playing field" the topic will be discussed on. This included boundaries and opinions etc.

They are different in that argumentative thesis statements are one sided and the it's purpose is to defend their argument. They usually begin by introducing a dispute or a question and establishing their position/what they believe.

Explanatory thesis statements usually lay down the foundation for discussion and introduce in detail what the reader and author will ponder. They explain.

Nixon’s southern strategy involved _____.
dalvyx [7]

The correct answer is B) Criticizing court-ordered busing of school children.

Nixon's southern strategy was focused on how to gain the support of white voters in the deep South. This strategy often had racial undertones. The goal of this strategy was to use this idea of racism as a means to gain support for his campaigns. The criticizing of integrated busing of school children was one way Nixon gained support, as he believed this should have been an issue decided on the state level.

sergij07 [2.7K]

The reason why Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War was to reduce support for the Confederacy.

He did not free all the enslaved people in the United States because he didn't want to border areas to rebel.

Why did Lincoln issue the Emancipation Proclamation?

Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in order to make the American Civil War about slavery.

This meant that European nations could no longer support the Confederacy because that would have meant that they were supporting slavery. It also boosted support for the war amongst African Americans.

The Emancipation Proclamation did not free the enslaved in the border states because Lincoln did not want them to rebel and in any case he didn't have the Constitutional power to do so.
