Select the reasons why most professional telescopes are reflectors rather than refractors.
Julli [10]

Answer:

d). It is easier to make a large reflecting telescope than a large refracting telescope.

f). A reflector can collect more light than a refractor.

Explanation:

A telescope is a device that is used to observe distant objects by the use of lenses and mirrors. It is also used to observe different distant objects by their reflection, absorption, emission or the reflection of the electromagnetic radiations.

Most of the professional telescopes are reflectors because :

1. The reflected telescope is able to receive more of the light when it reflects all the light falling on surface. And it is easier for making a large telescope rather then making large lenses for the refracting telescope. So it is easier to make large reflecting telescope than a large refracting telescope.

2. A reflected telescope receives all the wavelength of the light and it reflects all the light falling on the surfaces where it is refracted telescope that contains lenses cannot absorbs all the light and causes the chromatic aberration.

How do hurricanes affect Central America and the Caribbean?
serious [3.7K]

The hurricanes have negative, often devastating effects on the Caribbean and Central America.

Explanation:

Both, the Caribbean an Central America, are located in areas where there is high hurricane activity. These two regions are not well developed, but instead they are developing, and there is large scale poverty, which unfortunately doesn't go well in a combination with the hurricanes. Every year, several hurricanes of varying sizes hit these regions, and the effects are devastating more often than not.

Because the people are poor in general, as well as the countries themselves, the infrastructure is of very bad quality. The systems for warning are either non-existent or not very efficient. When stronger hurricanes hit these two regions suffer badly as most of the infrastructure gets destroyed. The bad organization results in lot of people ending up without any help or with little to no medical assistance. Hundreds of thousands of people every year end up homeless, badly injured, or dead, and part of the reason for that is that the warning systems often don't work properly and don't notify the people on time to take cover in safer grounds.

Some of the countries that often have huge problems because of hurricanes are:

  • Haiti
  • Dominican Republic
  • Belize
  • Cuba

In 2017 the islamic month of fasting, ramadan, began on friday, 26 may. What fraction of the year was this? (to 1 decimal place)
nataly862011 [7]

In Ramadan, Muslims fasted 35 days in total. 2017 had 365 days. 365 - 35 = 330 days were spent not fasting. So the fraction is 35/365.

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, determined by way of Muslims globally as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and networking.

Ramadan is a month-length nonsecular holiday for Muslims as a time of self-reflection and strengthening their dating with God. Ramadan is dictated by way of the lunar cycle, beginning and finishing with a crescent moon. The religious excursion involves fasting, praying and being around cherished ones. Muslims taking component in Ramadan do no longer eat or drink anything for the duration of daylight, eating one meal (the 'suhoor' or 'sehri') just earlier than dawn and every other (the 'iftar') after sunset. The stop of Ramadan is marked by using 'Eid-ul-Fitr', the festival of the Breaking of the short.
