The potato famine in Ireland in the mid 1800S can be considered a pull factor that caused people to migrate to the US true or fa
Nina [5.8K]

The statement is - True.

The potato famine in Ireland in the 1800's had a devastating effect on the Irish population. Two of the biggest consequences were:

1. Starvation; because of the potato famine around one million people had died from starvation which is close to 1/8 of the total Irish population in that period, and most of the population in the country was on verge of dying from starvation and barely made it through.

2. Migration; the potato famine caused a mass migration from Ireland towards the USA in order to have a better life or at least food on the table. It is estimated that probably around two million Irish people migrated to the USA in this period which is staggering almost 1/4 of the total Irish population.

How do the NC river basins compare to the Amazon's river basins?
grin007 [14]

Answer:

The North Carolina river basins are significantly smaller in any aspect when compared to the Amazon river basin.

Explanation:

North Carolina has seventeen river basins, all of which are of relatively small size. Five of those river basins drain in the Gulf of Mexico and the other twelve drain in the Atlantic Ocean. In any of the seventeen river basins, there isn't a single river that can be considered as large, but they are of medium and small size.

The Amazon river basin, on the other hand, is incomparably larger. It is the river basin that contains the highest amount of water by far. The central river of this basin, the Amazon River, is the river that has the biggest volume of water on Earth, and all rivers combined from North Carolina don't come anywhere near in site to even be compared to it. It is not just the Amazon though, but rivers like Jurua, Purus, Madeira, Tapajos, Xingu, individually have more water than all of North Carolina's river basins.
