Answer:

What literary age or movement is being described in the selection?

Nuevo Mundo (New World)

Edad Media (Middle Ages)

Siglo de Oro (Golden Age)

Modernismo (Modernism)

Explanation:

In this activity we have to choose the correct option to answer the question based on the characteristics given in the text. The text in English is the following:

Literature of this time is defined by the following:

Anonymous author: The authors does not sign their work because they know it belongs to a collective. Doesn´t seek to differentiate from the rest.

Oral work: They were Oral works, because people couldn't read. This explains why very few works have been preserved.

Works in verse: In the twelfth century it was considered that verses where what made the work literary.

These characteristics describe Medieval Literature, which of course was during the Middle Ages, until the beginning of the Renaissance in the XIV, XV, XVI century, depending on the country. One of the main traits of Medieval Literature was Anonymity, due to the role authors played in that time. Medieval authors were subjected to the classical writers and the Church fathers, and often retold stories rather than invent new ones. So, the names of the individual authors didn't seem important and many important works remain anonymous. Literary works were mainly spread orally by Minstrels, as common people couldn't read. And also were conceived in verses, as the main purpose of the work was not to be read, but to be recited.
