1. The invention of the compass was a major event for navigation. It helped European sailors and explorers to sail in a more accurate way in the 14th, 15th centuries.

2. The arrival of Columbus in 1492 gave Europe extraordinary opportunities of economic and territorial expansion by conquest of new lands, it allowed access to huge wealth and Columbus´ voyages opened the doors to improved geographical knowledge. The European conquest and colonization of the New World incorporated a whole new continent to the vision of Europe and Asia - the known world then plus Africa -, it exapnded the limits of the known Earth,  and got it into the orbit of Western culture.

3. The birth, development and expansion of numerous Evangelical churches around the world is a significant heritage of our contemporary society that finds its origins in the Protestant Reformation of 1517.
