What is institutional racism?

The term institutional racism has to do with the fact that the American government prioritized a certain group over others thereby giving the privileged few an unfair advantage over others.
We can see that the law enforcement officers and the judicial officers tend to downplay on the seriousness of crimes committed by white offenders while the sentences of African Americans is often more severe than those of their white co offenders.
Also, the neighborhoods in which people of color live are more frequently raided by some law enforcement agents and these people are often dehumanized while white people are treated with utmost respect for fundamental human rights.
