Find YQ if MQ = 3x-3 and YQ = 2x-6.
Alina [70]

Answer:

• Assume Q is a mid point of line MY

{ \underline{ \sf{ \:  _{l} M \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  _{l} Q \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  _{l}Y}}}

• Then, MQ = YQ

{ \rm{(3x - 3) = (2x - 6)}} \\  \\ { \rm{3x - 2x =  - 6 + 3}} \\  \\ { \boxed{ \rm{ \: x =  - 3 \: }}}

Please help, answer and show me the work. Thanks also solve for x
vova2212 [387]

3.  x+100 = 90   alternate interior angles are equal

subtract 100 from each side

x+100 - 100 = 90-100

x = -10

4.  17x+1 = 120    alternate exterior angles are equal

subtract 1 from each side

17x+ 1 -1 = 120 -1

17x = 119

divide each side by 17

17x/17 = 119

x =7

Why do you think you need to subtract in the process of long division but add when doing synthetic division
Westkost [7]
 <span>Because you have changed the sign of the divisor as part of setting up the synthetic division.

The whole point of changing the divisor's sign is allow addition (which is easier) instead of subtraction.</span>
