The launch of Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite created by the USSR, generated a big reaction from the United States. The United States wanted to get a technological advance to the Soviet Union, as they were currently in a period of the Cold War where the arms races and space race was heavy. It also created the effect across the United States that the US was not the most technologically advanced country and that the Soviet Union was not as backwards as it had been stated as being.

Answer:  The US took steps to catch up and surpass the Soviets in the space race.

Details:

The Sputnik satellite was sent into orbit by the USSR on October 4, 1957.  The Soviets announced its mission as a scientific one, to study the solar system.  In the Cold War atmosphere, of course, Americans were wary of what other motives the USSR might have had.  The Soviets launched Sputnik 2 in November, 1957, with a dog on board.  The USA scrambled to get its own satellite program operational, launching the first US satellite, Explorer, on January 1, 1958.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was founded in July, 1958, to continue the United States' advance in space technology.

Describe President Andrew Jackson's attitude toward native people as he authorized theforced removal of Indians to Western lands
REY [17]
Overall, Jackson didn’t like the Natives. To him they were an obstacle in the way of good farmland. He believed poor white men should be allowed to live and farm on the Natives land, which is what initially led to him trying to move them.
The Natives in the South refused to give up their land, which led to the Cherokee tribe going to the American supreme court. Even though the case ruled in the Natives favor (they cannot be forced to move), Jackson still forced them to move. The Trail of Tears itself was brutal for the Natives and even after they arrived out West, they didn’t get much government assistance. These instances show his lack of empathy towards the Natives.

What was the original goal of the Framers when they met at Independence Hall?  How did that goal change?
Andrew [12]

Answer

The farmers original goal was to strengthen the Articles of Confederation

Their goal changed when they did away with the idea of strengthening the Articles of confederation and made the constitution

Explanation

The article of confederation was an agreement which was used to govern several states. These states used the Articles of Confederation instead of constitution or it served as a constitution.

The main goals of farmers and as to why they supported the article of confederation was to be in a position to limit the government from undermining the liberty of its people.

Their goal changed and made the constitution because they felt that it will guarantee the basic human rights.
