The Dia de Los Muertos Festival is celebrated as a national holiday in Mexico every November 1 and 2. This celebration coincides with All Saints Day and All Souls Day for Catholics. On November 1 the celebration was named Dia de Los Angelitos and was dedicated to the memory of children's spirits. While on November 2 called Dia de Los Difuntos for adult spirits.

During the Dia de Los Muertos celebration, each family will decorate their homes by making an altar (ofrendas) consisting of photographs, Aztec Marigold (Mexico's death flower), calacas and Calaveras (skeletons and skulls), skull-shaped sweets, Picado papel a kind of typical Mexican ornament), then food, drinks, and favorite items during life.

Although this Día de Los Muertos is a tradition from Mexico, various countries such as the United States, Spain, and several countries in South America also celebrate. Even in 2008, UNESCO included a list of intangible world heritage.
