Answer:

Guenevere knows Lancelot and is likely to disapprove.

Explanation:

At first, Vivien is surprised that Guenevere doesn't know yet, and she seems to think that it's for the best. She believes that Guenevere will disaprove, which can be clearly seen in the last line of the Dialogue:

Guenevere: Well, for heaven's sake, who is it?

Vivien: Is it possible that it's not being gossiped

about? You really haven't heard?

Guenevere: Not a syllable.

Vivien: Then I shan't tell you.

Guenevere: But — why?

Vivien: Because you'll think I've a nerve to want

him.

 • Seeing this ghost I grieved, but held her off, through pang on pang of tears, till I should know the presence of Teiresias.

As we can see, the first excerpt paraphrases the second one. It rewords the information provided in the original excerpt, making it simpler to understand.

Active- Passive: 1. Whom did you meet? 2.Whom did you give the book? 3. Who called you a list?
Dmitry [639]

Answer:

1. Whom was met by you?

2. To whom was the book given by you? OR Whom was the book given to by you?

3. By who were you called a list?

Explanation:

1. This is more simple. You simply find the verb "meet", determine the tense using the auxiliary verb "did" (past tense); from this you get "met". Then identify the subject ("you"), and string it all together with the passive voice form of questions: object + verb + by + subject, or "Whom was met by you?".

2. For this question, the original active voice question was grammatically wrong: it should be "To whom did you give the book?" or "Whom did you give the book to?" Using the same method mentioned in question 1, you'll get the answer.

3. This is a little different from the other two questions, since it's asking about the identity of the subject, not the object. This means the sentence structure should be similar, but with the subject moved to the start. This could technically be done to all of the questions, but most people use the "object + verb to be + verb + by + subject" form for finding the object.

Anyways, back to the question: the form used should be "by + subject + verb to be + object + verb". This explains the answer.

Sorry if I didn't explain the answers that well

A figure of speech based on a comparison that is not literally true is known as what?
zvonat [6]

This must be from a standardized test. The wording is a little confusing, but I'd say it is a metaphor. Google says the definition of metaphor is "a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable." This is saying something is something, or comparing two items without using "as" or "like". Have a good night/day!
