There are two solutions

The first solution is (x,y) = (3,0)

The second solution is (x,y) = (0,3)

===============================================

Work Shown:

Isolate x in the first equation (subtract y from both sides)

x+y = 3

x = -y+3

Now plug this into the second equation. Isolate y.

x^2 + y^2 = 9

(-y+3)^2 + y^2 = 9 ... replace x with -y+3

y^2 - 6y + 9 + y^2 = 9 ... FOIL rule

2y^2 - 6y + 9 = 9

2y^2 - 6y = 0

2y(y-3) = 0

2y = 0 or y-3 = 0 .... zero product property

y = 0 or y = 3

--------------

If y = 0, then x is

x = -y+3

x = -0+3

x = 3

Therefore, x = 3 and y = 0 pair up to get the ordered pair (x,y) = (3,0) as one solution of this system

--------------

If y = 3, then x is

x = -y+3

x = -3+3

x = 0

Therefore, x = 0 and y = 3 pair up to get the ordered pair (x,y) = (0,3) as the other solution of this system

--------------

If you were to graph the two equations, you should find that the curves cross each other at (0,3) and (3,0). I've marked these two points as A and B respectively. The order of the solutions does not matter.

−1/2 (x+2) + 112x = 3<br><br> x=?
AysviL [449]

Given equation :−1/2 (x+2) + 112x = 3

We have -1/2 in front of parenthesis on left side .

It's better to remove fraction in an equation, in order make it easier to solve.

In order to remove 2 from denominator of 2, we need to multiply each and every term by 2.

Multiplying each term in the equation by 2, we get

2* −1/2(x+2) +2* 112x = 2*3.

On simplifying this step, we get

-1(x+2) +224x = 6.

Distributing -1 over (x+2), we get

-x -2 +224x = 6

Combining like terms on left side, -x+224x=223x

223x -2 = 6

Adding 2 on both sides, we get

223x -2+2 = 6+2

223x = 8

Dividing both sides by 223, we get

223x/223 = 8/223.

x= 8/223.

Please answer this simple question!!!
vladimir1956 [14]
Just substitute the value of x from equation 2 in equation 1,
6y = x - 12
6y = 22 - 12
y= 10/6
y = 5/3

In short, Your Answer would be Option Option B) (22, 5/3)

Hope this helps!
