Answer: The process to create linear equation is given below.

Case 1: When 2 data points are given.

Let the two data ints be (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2).

Then the linear equation is defined by the formula,

y-y_1=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1} (x-x_1)    ..... (1)

For example: Let the two points be (2,-1) and (-4,2). Then we get,

y+1=\frac{2+1}{-4-2} (x-2)

y+1=\frac{3}{-6} (x-2)

2y+2=-x+2

2y=-x

y=\frac{-1}{2}x

Case 2: When the initial value and rate of change is given.

Let the initial value be (x_1,y_1) and slope is m. The rate of change is know as slope.

Then the linear equation is defined by the formula,

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)    ..... (2)

For example: Let the initial point be (4,5) and rate of change is 2. Then we get,

y-5=2(x-4)

y-5=2x-8

y=2x-3

Hence, the equation (1) and (2) are the formula to create a linear equation.

The slope of the linear equation is 20 and the y-intercept is 150

<h3>What is a Slope?</h3>

Slope measures how steep a straight line is. It is described as rise over run.

The slope of the linear equation can be found as follows;

He opens the account with $150 and he plans to save $20 each week. Therefore,

let

x = number of weeks

Therefore,

  • y = 20x + 150

where

y = amount in his account after x number of weeks.

Using the slope intercept equation,

<h3>Slope intercept equation:</h3>
  • y =mx + c

where

m = slope

c = y-intercept

Therefore, the slope of the linear equation is 20 and the y-intercept is 150

A photograph was enlarged to a width of 15 inches. If the scale factor was 3 /2 , what was the width of the original photograph?
andre [41]
If the width is 15, and the scale factor from width to length is 3:2, then you will have to divide 15 by 3 to get your original width.
15/3 = 5.
5 is your original width.

Alyssa took a math test for 20 questions and she answered 16 questions correctly in order to get an a she needs to answer at lea
Elenna [48]

Answer:

She did not qualify the exam.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Total no of question in a test = 20

No. of question answered correctly = 16

Percentage of question answered correctly

(\frac{16}{20}) 100 = 80

But in order to get in the exam the student must have to score at least 90 %. But she got only 80 % so she did not qualify the exam.
