Kingsley Lake is Pat’s favorite place to swim during the summer. There is an entry fee of $12.00 per car per day. Pat notices a

sign as they approach the entrance. His family could join Kingsley Lake Club for the summer! It costs $48.00 to join and then the entry fee becomes $6.00 per car per day.
Pat is comparing the costs and wants to know how many days at the lake will it take cost without a membership to equal the cost with a membership.

Use the table to help you identify the number of days.

Please Help? For the function f(x) = 2|x – 1|, what is the average rate of change over the interval –1 ≤ x ≤ 1?
lesya692 [45]
<h3>Answer:   -2</h3>

========================================================

Explanation:

Plug in x = -1 to find that

f(x) = 2|x-1|

f(-1) = 2|-1-1|

f(-1) = 2|-2|

f(-1) = 2*(2)

f(-1) = 4

If you repeat for x = 1, you should find that f(1) = 0

--------

Now use the average rate of change formula below. Effectively, we're using the slope formula more or less.

m = \frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}\\\\m = \frac{f(1)-f(-1)}{1-(-1)}\\\\m = \frac{0-4}{1+1}\\\\m = \frac{-4}{2}\\\\m = -2\\\\

The average rate of change on this interval is -2

This is the same as finding the slope through the points (-1, 4) and (1, 0).

A bicycle has a listed price of $619.98 before tax. If the sales tax rate is 7.5% , find the total cost of the bicycle with sale
Julli [10]
Hey there.

We can calculate the total cost by multiplying the price before tax by the decimal form of the sales tax.
This translates to:

619.98 · 0.075 = 46.50 (rounded)

Now we add the listed price and the tax.

619.98 + 46.50 = 666.48

The total cost the bicycle is $666.48
