Answer:

a+b=1

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The formula to solve a quadratic equation of the form ax^{2} +bx+c=0 is equal to

x=\frac{-b(+/-)\sqrt{b^{2}-4ac}} {2a}

in this problem we have

x^{2} -x-90=0

so

a=1\\b=-1\\c=-90

substitute in the formula

x=\frac{1(+/-)\sqrt{-1^{2}-4(1)(-90)}} {2(1)}

x=\frac{1(+/-)\sqrt{361}} {2}

x=\frac{1(+/-)19} {2}

x=\frac{1(+)19} {2}=10

x=\frac{1(-)19} {2}=-9

so

a=10, b=-9

a+b=10-9=1

Good evening ,

______

Answer:

a+b=1

___________________

Step-by-step explanation:

For such equation which has the form : mx² + nx + p = 0

There is a rule in this course that tells as: a + b = -(n)/m

We have m=1 and n= (-1) then a+b= -(-1)/1 = 1/1 = 1.

Vanyuwa [196]

Answer:

60 weeks

Step-by-step explanation:

195 = 75 + (10 + 8)w

195 - 75 = (10 + 8)w

120 = (10 + 8)w

120 = (2)w

120 ÷ 2 = w

60 = w

In an inductive generalization, in order to achieve an error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points at a confidence level o
ANTONII [103]
Let n =  required random sample size.

Assume that the population standard deviation is known as σ.
Let m =  sample mean.
At the 95% confidence level, the expected range is
(m - k(σ/√n), m + k(σ/√n))
where k = 1.96.

Therefore the error margin is 1.96(σ/√n).
Because the error margin is specified as 3% or 0.03, therefore
(1.96σ)/√n = 0.03
√n = (1.96σ)/0.03
n = 128.05σ²

This means that the sample size is about 128 times the population variance.

Answer:
Smallest sample size = 128.05σ², where σ = population standard deviation.

Simplify: |x−y| if x is less than y
blondinia [14]

Answer:

y-x

Step-by-step explanation:

I assumed you meant that you wanted me to rewrite the expression without the absolute value signs. Since the absolute value of a number will be the same whichever way you place the numbers, you can rewrite |x-y| as y-x, as x is less than y.

An item is regularly priced at $60 . Jessica bought it on sale for 65% off the regular price. How much did Jessica pay?
adoni [48]

First, convert the 65% to a real mathematical number. For percents, this is always done by dividing the 65% by 100%, or 65% / 100% = 0.650.

Second, find out what 65% of $60 is. This is the amount of the sale discount. This is always found by mulitplying 0.650 by the item's cost $60, like this:

0.650 x $60 = $39.00.

So for this sale, you'll save $39.00 on this item.

This means, the cost of the item to you is

<span>$60 - $39.00 = $21.00.</span>
