Answer:   Easing of political  tensions between countries

Explanation: This term of relaxation of political tensions particularly concerned tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The release of tension occurred between 1967 and 1979. During this period, many agreements have been signed, for example, the Helsinki Accords and the SALT Agreement. The period of relaxation of tensions ended when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. Historians are divided into thoughts about how détente contributed to the establishment of peace.
