The answer is pavement sparkling with sunlight. These lines are all about setting of the pavement that the speaker walking sideways is all shiny an pretty with sunlight. There are many other lines of equal simplicity which permit the reader to ease over and done with parts of the poem just as the speaker with his earphones on flow along with the others on the pavement.
