Yolande Cornelia Giovanni, Jr. herself has used her poetry as a means to combine her interests in both writing and having politicly radical activities into material that could be healing. Her poetry in Black Feeling, Black Talk was a way to process her grandmother’s death as well as the growing Civil Rights movement.
